Biography
Coach Icker Sanchez did not begin Jiu-Jitsu because it was something he was already eager to do.
His mother encouraged him to give it a try because she wanted him to become more active and spend less time playing video games. Once he began training, however, his interest quickly grew. He became motivated to learn how to defend himself, improve his grappling, and continue challenging himself.
Over time, Jiu-Jitsu became something he truly enjoyed.
Through training, Icker has become more disciplined, confident, and patient. Jiu-Jitsu has also taught him how to stay calm, work hard, and continue moving forward when things become difficult.
What keeps him coming back is the opportunity to keep improving. He enjoys learning new techniques, seeing his own progress, and training alongside his teammates. For Icker, there is always something new to work on, and that constant opportunity for growth keeps him motivated.
One of the biggest lessons Jiu-Jitsu has taught him is to never give up. Even when something feels difficult, he has learned that he can take something from the experience, continue working, and come back better.
That same mindset shapes his goals for the future.
Icker wants to continue developing his Jiu-Jitsu, become a great teacher, and eventually earn his black belt. More importantly, he hopes to use what he learns to help others improve and grow through the sport.
As a member of the RGA coaching team, Icker is grateful for the coaches, teammates, and students who have supported him throughout his journey.
He is thankful to be part of the RGA family and looks forward to continuing to grow both as a student and as a coach.
